You can use the Amazon Lifecycle Data manager (DLM) to take scheduled AMI snapshots of your EBS-backed EC2 instances. The process is fairly simple, just tick the Enable cross-region copy checkbox and specify the target AWS Region as well as the Encryption. You can also include one or more additional regions for better redundancy.
By enabling the Amazon EBS Cross-Region Snapshot Copy feature, you can provide a better Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) to your systems.
